Herbs in Action
Honeysuckle Japanese flower: Lonicera japonica has traditionally been used for coughs, sore throats, and upper respiratory challenges.
Marshmallow root: Althaea officinalis can act as an expectorant and offers benefits including moistening a dry mouth, easing coughs, and helping to line and protect the throat. Marshmallow has been known to moisten and soften tissues and helps to maintain an optimal inflammatory response.
Sage leaf: Salvia officinalis is native to the Mediterranean where it was prized in ancient Greece and Rome for its health benefits. While most known for its use in the kitchen, sage's drying properties help support a balanced fluid response in the body. Sage leaves are rich in flavonoids and phenolic acids, which combat oxidative stress and support a healthy inflammatory response throughout the body.
Thyme leaf: Thymus vulgaris may help soothe occasional cough, supports immune system function, and provides free radical scavenger activity.
Bee Propolis: Also known as bee glue, Bee Propolis is made from pollen and plant resin that bees use to protect and seal their hives. This thick resinous substance soothes throats and supports respiratory wellness while strengthening the body's natural immune response. Rich in polyphenols, these free radical scavengers support the body's natural balance and protect against environmental stressors.
White Willow Bark: Traditionally used for centuries, Salix alba has a long history of use for general wellness. Historical texts note that it was chewed to ease everyday physical discomforts. The bark contains salicin, a naturally occurring compound related to those found in some over-the-counter products. Today, White Willow is used by herbalists to support a healthy inflammatory response and promote overall comfort in the body.
Usnea lichen: Usnea spp. is a lichen that often hangs in tufts from trees and grows on trees, with the body of the plant used to make medicine. Also known as old man's beard, Usnea promotes a restorative immune response, especially in the mucus membranes and respiratory tract. It has also been used to break up mucus and make phlegm easier to cough up. Usnea is often used to combat discomforts and bring the body back to balance.
