Herbs in Action
Vitex berry: Vitex agnus-castus, also known as Chaste berry, is a plant that has been used for wellness purposes for thousands of years. Vitex supports hormonal balance and has an affinity for the female reproductive system. This herb encourages healthy menstrual cycles and supports progesterone balance. Vitex also helps soothe occasional cycle-related discomforts and supports emotional balance during monthly cycles.
Black Cohosh root: Actaea racemosa is most often used to ease cramps and menopausal discomforts such as night sweats, hot flashes, irritability, and sleep disturbances.
Wild Yam Root: Dioscorea villosa has been used in folk medicine since the 18th century to treat menstrual cramps and various discomforts. The root is most popular for its affinity for the female system, where it influences hormone balances to benefit discomforts associated with menstruation. Wild Yam may influence our hormonal system by supporting the reproductive/endocrine system through healthy inflammatory response and hormone pathways. It may ease menstrual cramps and aid with vaginal dryness in older women.
Black Haw bark: Viburnum prunifolium is a woodland shrub native to southern and central North America. Traditionally used to support the nervous system, it may help soothe occasional tension and support uterine tone, making it a useful ally for reproductive wellness and pregnancy preparation.
Motherwort aerials: Leonurus cardiaca, the Latin name, means lionhearted. It's a calming herb that is wonderful for hormone balance and cardiovascular health alike. It's said to soothe frayed nerves and act as a mother's comforting embrace.
Yarrow aerials: Wise women healers and western herbalists have used Achillea millefolium to support women's reproductive health for centuries. Yarrow contains plant compounds that help soothe stomach cramps, support healthy blood flow, and may alleviate PMS symptoms associated with sore breasts and heavy menstrual flow. It also encourages a healthy estrogen and progesterone balance, making it valuable in herbal formulas promoting overall hormonal balance.
Spikenard root: Aralia racemosa affects the three major nerve plexuses — cardiac, solar, and sacral. Spikenard can relax the brain and aid in repatterning constant thoughts of worry, concern and repetitive thinking -- allowing for release of old wounds.
Mitchella aerials: The aerial portions of the Mitchella repens plant are used as an extract or whole dried herb for supporting female reproductive wellness. This herb has an affinity for the reproductive system and supports healthy menstrual cycles. Mitchella traditionally supports uterine wellness and hormone balance.
Dandelion root: Taraxacum officinale is highly nutritious and contains potent free radical scavengers that support the body's natural defenses against environmental stress. It encourages the body's natural cleansing processes and supports hormone balance and reproductive wellness.
Raspberry leaf: The most notable contribution of Rubus idaeus is their nourishing properties. Raspberry leaf provides vitamin C and B, along with a number of minerals, including iron, phosphorus, zinc, magnesium and potassium.
